After an intensive course with Sandwell Deaf Community Association (SDCA), three exams and plenty of practice, a group of Year 13 students have been awarded with their certificates.

The next step for this group is to support SDCA with the school’s new BSL Club. The Club will support students in Years 7, 8 & 9 to develop their Signing skills, in the hope that they will undertake the Level 1 course in their upper years at Smestow.

The students, along with their tutors Lisa and Shirley, enjoyed the opportunity to bring a new generation of BSL signers to Wolverhampton.

This is the third successful year for the BSL course at Smestow, and plans are underway to bring BSL to the community with evening classes planned for the New Year.
