Year 7 Boys’ Football
Wolverhampton Schools’ Cup
Moseley Park 3-4 Smestow
Wednesday 12 October 2016

Smestow advanced to the next round of the cup competition in an enthralling contest on a wet and cold evening away to Moseley Park.

Starting the game strongly, Smestow took the lead in the first few minutes with a cool finish from Joseph Melis. Both teams then created chances in a tight first half, however Moseley Park were the most clinical and went into the break 2-1 ahead.

After a positive and encouraging half time chat, Smestow moved up a gear and began to put pressure onto the Moseley Park defence, creating a number of chances. Within 15 minutes of the second half Smestow had turned the tie around to take a 4-2 lead, with goals from Steve Mwangi, Jyoti Vusal and Jayden Bradley.

With both teams determined to progress, Moseley Park made it a nervous finish by cutting the deficit to 4-3. However, the Smestow boys ground out the win fantastically and fully deserve their place in the next round. Well done Smestow Year 7 boys!
