A group of girls from Smestow are doing themselves and the school proud in the world of dance.

Year 10 students Tegan Watson, Sophie Deeley and Holly Hawkins, along with Year 8 pupil Tajah Shea, are all dedicated dancers at various academies in the Midlands.

Sophie and Tajah are both members of the Sharon Ann Academy of Cheer and Dance in Wolverhampton, with Sophie competing in the world championships in Florida recently and finishing in a very impressive eighth place.

Tajah is hoping to follow in Sophie’s footsteps and go to the world championships herself one day.

Tajah Shea

Sophie Deeley, Tegan Watson and Holly Hawkins.

Tegan is at the Elite School of Dance in Lichfield, where she studies a range of styles with lyrical and jazz being favourites, and Holly is at the Kings Court Dance Academy in Wolverhampton, studying ballet, tap, point and modern amongst others.

All of them study dance at Smestow, of course, and are hugely committed to their studies both in and out of school.

Tegan and Sophie both teach younger students at their academies, which is great for them on top of the fantastic experience of performing in front of big crowds at competitions.

Each of the girls have different ambitions when it comes to their future – some want to dance or teach while others just enjoy it as a hobby.

But whatever the future brings, we are hugely proud of their commitment and hard work. Well done girls!
