Nine Year 7 girls played their first Rounders fixture of the season on Wednesday against St Peter’s School.

It was the first time that the team had played together, with a few of the girls recruited in the days leading up to the game. However, despite their lack of experience playing alongside each other, the girls got off to a fantastic start, leading by 5 rounders in the first innings.

The team went from strength to strength, with Rhianna Johnson and Alannah Ray-Houghton making two fantastic catches in the second innings, getting two of the opposition out.

Kylah Humphries also demonstrated some exceptional fielding skill, throwing a great long distance ball to Emily Martin on 4th post and getting another of their players out.

The score line finished 11 ½ rounders to 6 to Smestow, a truly fantastic start to seasons.

Well done to all of the girls!
