After the poor weather last week and the cancellations of two of the Year 8 matches, Year 8 were ready and raring to go and compete against St Peter’s on 7th June for their debut match.

Judging by their training sessions they were ready to get the season off to a flying start and so they did, after some brilliant fielding, an amazing catch from Matilda, and some cracking hits, they beat St Peter’s 9 and a half to 5. Really making them more prepared than ever to play their next match.

The next match was away at Highfields. It was a fantastic game to watch and very tense to be part of. Unfortunately the girls lost by half a rounder! Making the score 11 to 11 and a half.

However this did not put the girl’s heads down as they won the following night against Ounsdale 11 and a half to 10 and a half. Then came our final match of the week against Wolverhampton Grammar School.

The girls were very nervous about this match, however they played the best they could and tried their very hardest but unfortunately they ended up losing 7 and a half to 3.

The loss against Grammar has not put the girl’s heads down once again and they are more than prepared for the next three matches coming up. Maia Williams was our player of the match for the last three fixtures.

Well done Maia and well done to the rest of the team for keeping their heads held high, showing true teamwork and having great sportsmanship.
