The Black Country School Games Level 3 Championships are the pinnacle of the sporting year for children and young people in the area.

On Friday, June 23rd, 41 Smestow students traveled to the University of Wolverhampton, Walsall Campus to help lead the event.

Four of our prestigious SWIS Coaches were invited to be Ambassadors for the day, escorting the VIP guests around the Campus. 32 Leaders from Years 9 and 10 organised and ran the Multi-Skills event for KS1 children from both mainstream and special schools.

150 children were challenged in 12 different activities. The Leaders were superb creating an atmosphere of energy and competition but most of all, achievement for all.

Down on the rugby fields, five Young Officials took charge of the two Tag-Rugby competitions, primary and secondary girls tag.

The organisers of the competition were blown away by the way the Young Officials refereed the matches. Their knowledge and manner of officiating was excellent, a result of taking charge of many matches at Smestow in our City Championships.

Well done to each and every one of our Young Leaders, Officials and Ambassadors you are a credit to the school and your families.
