Smestow took to the road for their next league fixture against Ounsdale. They were controlling the game with most of the possession in the first half, but it was Ounsdale who scored first. It took a cross from Elijah Brookes and flick on header from Callum Lycett to level the match and this saw the Smestow boys grow in confidence. Jack Walters added to his tally for this season by making it 2-1 with Harry Stokes adding a third from a simple tap in after some fine work by Vikai Dass. At half time the team was in a strong position with Mr. Aseid warning against complacency. He needn’t have worried, as 10 minutes in George Rowlinson-Jones hit a half-volley from the edge of the box to score a cracker. Then immediately afterwards Jack Walters chased down the Ounsdale kick-off to dribble past a couple of defenders and slot past the helpless goalkeeper. It was a fine move which encapsulated the determination of the team. There would be more misery for Ounsdale when Abdul Rauf passed to George Rowlinson-Jones and Callum Lycett was able to secure his second goal of the game. As we finish for the first half of the season the boys are 3 wins out of 3 and must carry this confidence on to their next game after Christmas.
