Two of our students will be representing England at two very different events in 2018 and 2019.
Myrie Walker has been selected to go to the World Scout Jamboree in America in the summer of 2019, while Sophie Deeley will also be jetting off to the US next year for the cheerleading world championships.
Sophie has been selected to compete in the first-ever junior elite England cheer team and will be representing her country at the championships in April 2018.
She says: “I was selected with my stunt group after a video trial and a tryout in London. I was very surprised when I gained a place on the team!
“I am also competing for the third time in dance whilst in America next year to represent England with SA supreme from the Sharon Ann Academy of Cheer and Dance in Wolverhampton.”
Myrie will have to wait until 2019 for his adventure, as World Scout Jamborees are only held once every four years, making it an even greater honour that he has been selected.
He has been selected following a tough process that involved interviews, presentations and team building exercises.
We are really pleased for both of them and are sure they will do Smestow proud!
