The Smestow Football Academy had an indoor futsal tournament at Aldersley Stadium earlier in December which had a dramatic finale.
Following two wins and a draw in the final, the decision on overall winners came down to penalties.
The shootout was sudden death which meant if you missed your penalty and the other team scored, they automatically won. Heath Park School students went first with the Smestow keeper to beat.
He struck the ball and it was heading into the bottom right corner – it needed a fantastic save by the Smestow keeper who made a fingertip save to push the ball round the post.
This meant that all Smestow needed was to score and they were crowned champions. Reiss stepped up and struck the ball into the left corner sending the keeper the wrong way which won them the trophy.
Well done to the team who will now be competing in the Black Country Games to face the best in West Midlands.
