A group of Smestow pupils are heading to a special event in Wolverhampton later this week to help inspire them for a future in STEM careers.

STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics – have traditionally been more popular for boys in schools, but times are changing and the Girls into STEM event at the University of Wolverhampton is a big part of that.

The event takes place on Thursday 8th March and 10 girls from Smestow Year 8 and 9 will be attending, listening to the keynote speech – ‘How to encourage our girls to follow their dream and pursue STEM careers’ – and join in with Interactive STEM taster activities, along with a panel discussion with STEM students, staff and alumni.
