Plans are now well underway for our Community Day on Tuesday, July 17 – but we are still looking for people to get involved and help to make the event a huge success.

Members of the public will be able to buy tickets in advance of the event, which will run from 4.30pm to 7pm and more news of how to get your tickets will follow shortly.

We are planning a musical atmosphere throughout, a number of craft stalls and food outlets, bouncy castles, face painting, and an area to relax. The day will also be a great opportunity for local youth groups to come along and join our students in highlighting what young people are doing in our community.

We have now held the first meeting of our working party to plan proceedings and starting after half term we will be meeting each Tuesday evening between 6.30pm and 7.30pm to plan the day and give regular updates. So if anyone would like to get involved we would love to hear from you.

Our plan this year is a little different to previously in that we want to include the local community in making it a day to remember – with the emphasis on fun. We will have several themes running through the day, an arts festival, community fun and sport.

We are still keen to hear from local businesses who are welcome to come along and show what they have to offer and to highlight the importance of working together.

There will be plenty of mini-sports competitions going on for those who like to keep active, quizzes a bake-off and treasure hunt and we will also be raising money for charity.

Organising such a big event is a massive challenge and time is short, with only about seven weeks to go. There will be so much to do over the coming weeks and we would value your input.

So if you would like to take part, helping us with the organisation or by having a presence on the day please get in touch – we would be grateful for your assistance. For everyone else, please make a note in your diary to come along and help to make our Community Day a great success.
