Year 9 students have recently taken part in a rock painting project. The decorated rocks were inspired by the latest viral craze to sweep the country. Beautifully painted rocks are being hidden within communities in areas such as: parks, along walks and in woodlands. This great idea encourages people of all ages to be creative, walk more and enjoy the outdoors. If you are lucky enough to find a painted rock, you are asked to photograph it and return it for someone else to find. Returning it is vital as it keeps the game going for others to enjoy.

Year 9 have hidden their decorated rocks around the grounds at Smestow for the New Year 7 to find on their induction day. Mrs Keeley, who is leading the project said “We are so proud of our students who have created some beautiful designs. We really hope the local community enjoy finding these hidden gems. It’s also a great way to welcome our new students.” After the rocks have been found, they will be hidden around the local community. Keep an eye open, and if you find one please post to Social Media with the hashtag #SmestowRocks.

Happy hunting!
