Mel Clarke, Paralympic archer was the guest speaker at the inaugural City Secondary School Sports Awards Evening on Monday 9th July held at Dunstall Racecourse. Mel’s talk was inspirational for the audience challenging the city’s young people and their parents never to give up and strive for their personal goal.

Throughout the year schools across the city compete in a range of sports including gymnastics, tag rugby, handball, football, netball, basketball and athletic. These are for all age groups and the winners from each competition or league were invited to attend and receive recognition for their achievement. Congratulations to the year 9 boys football team league and cup winners, year 9 netball team and the U18 Futsall team who represented Smestow at the event watched by proud parents and Smestow PE staff.

Next year we are looking to be even better and win more competitions!
