Head Teachers Welcome
Welcome to Smestow School
As Headteacher, I am honoured to lead this very good school. The school has many qualities; its excellent examination results and well-deserved reputation for its caring and supportive approach to students of all abilities.
Our focus is to give students the best quality learning experience available. We value their achievements in all areas, and the staff are committed to enabling all students to achieve.
Academic achievements are high; our GCSE performance has been better than Local Authority for many years and this has been recognised by our invitation to become a ‘Leading Edge’ school. This year we have an extremely positive progress 8 score indicating that students at all levels of ability thrive and achieve here at Smestow. Our post-16 results make us one of the top performing schools in Wolverhampton and we have positive progress scores for the past few years.
Our high achievement is complemented by the ethos of the school. We are very proud of the caring, compassionate and considerate young adults the school produces.
Our standards of behaviour and the systems we operate to support them are excellent.
In June of 2013 we were visited by OFSTED who again ranked us a ‘good school’ in all categories. We expect our next visit soon and look forward to the opportunity to show how we have improved since then. We will continue to strive for excellence in all that we do.
We converted to Academy Status in February of 2015 as part of the University of Wolverhampton’s Education Central Multi Academy Trust. This has been a successful partnership for us as a school and both increased the opportunities for our students and forged links with an institution committed to the development of the young people of Wolverhampton.
I would also encourage parents to read the most recent OFSTED report. This can be found on the OFSTED website.
You are most welcome to pay us a visit and judge for yourself.
Mr M. J. Morgan
