I am delighted to welcome you to Smestow School where we provide a broad and balanced academic and vocational curriculum designed to support a focus on personal development. We believe in the importance of working with parents.
We are committed to ‘Building People’ with the skills, knowledge and understanding to become active and successful members of society. Everything we do in school is aimed at promoting a passion for lifelong learning and striving to uncover our students’ talents and interests. Our care and compassion are central to our ‘family’ atmosphere, which has served us well in our response to the current national challenges.
Our values of Respect, Resilience, Honesty, Integrity and Accountability are the cornerstone of how we work. The school has a real community spirit where we believe in making a real difference. We are committed to recognising those less fortunate than ourselves and are regularly involved in charity work.
Remote Learning Update
We are very proud to be awarded the Safe Remote Education Accreditation from National Online Safety to ensure our students, parents and staff are safe.
As a school we have supported over 200 families with IT support through laptops and internet connectivity and again if you require support then please contact firstname.lastname@example.org and we will be happy to help. In addition, we have renewed licenses for Lexia to support our additional needs students and recently purchased Flash Academy to support our EAL students.
All staff at Smestow continue to work hard to adapt their lessons for the demands of Remote Learning. I am happy to share this video about the work that Smestow Staff have produced since September on building a Student Portal on SharePoint where students can find a range of resources from Oak National Academy, Teacher voiced presentations, YouTube and GCSE Pod through to quizzes that give immediate feedback and other resources.
