In memory of Her Majesty the Queen
I am sure the nation is responding with sadness on the news of the death of Her Majesty the Queen.
We have now entered a period of national mourning that will continue until the end of the State Funeral. Guidance will be forwarded to schools from the Cabinet Office and information will be shared with us once the details of the funeral are confirmed by the Royal Household and we will share any information as it is received.
At Smestow Academy, we will be holding a two-minute silence today at 10am in memory of Her Majesty. We will also be celebrating the lifetime achievements of Queen Elizabeth II during our Building People curriculum later today. Students can choose to take a period of quiet reflection should they need to in our Library during break time and lunchtime, where they will also be supported by staff. We will also have a condolence book available for students to write their messages to the Royal Family next week.
Any issues you wish to discuss or ideas you have, please do share. Smestow Academy is community who come together and are supportive. I am sure we will be able to celebrate an amazing rule by a Queen who has touched many hearts.
